『[ベスト・オブ・ホリーズ]は、68年に来日記念盤としてリリースされた作品。この時点までに日本でシングル発売されていたA面曲全7曲を含むもので、日本では①のB面にカップリングされた⑫も収録されている。ジャケは選曲違いの英盤‘The Best Of…’にも使われたもので、⑨「恋のカルセール」の時のフォトセッション時のものだろう(ホリーズのCDボックスに別テイクが数点使われている)。ボーナスのうち⑰～はそのボックス‘The Long Road Home’で初出されたもの。⑮はオーストラリア盤、⑯は85年の英編集盤で初出のテイク。』

①②③④は、イギリスで発売されたデビューから4作を2003年に《アビイロード・スタジオで最新デジタル・リマスタリング》したシリーズです。それぞれにボーナス・トラックが10曲前後入っていて1964～1966年のホリーズが発表した全曲と録音済み未発表曲がほぼ網羅されています。⑤は68年に来日記念盤としてリリースされた作品(こちらもデジタル・リマスタリング)。この時点までに日本でシングル発売されていたA面曲全7曲を含むものです。カバー曲も多数録音したこの時代ならではのビートルズに迫るナッシュ・クラーク＆ヒックス3声のハーモニーは見事です！画像撮影と盤面確認のため開封しましたが、5枚とも新品に近いです。

"The Hollies' debut album "Stay with the Hollies" (1964 / UK No. 2). You can enjoy the lively harmony vocals and playing just like the word British beat. Except for 13, it's all beat group classic rock'n'roll and R&B, but it's probably because the songs are selected from the repertoire of the stage at that time. Strong influences from Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly can be felt. Bonus tracks include 9 songs, including single hits 15 and 17, their B-sides, and 3 stereo versions. 』

It includes all seven A-side songs that had been released as singles in Japan up to this point, and ⑫ that was coupled to the B-side of ① in Japan is also included. 1, 2, 3, and 4 are a series of 4 titles released in the UK since their debut that were digitally remastered at Abbey Road Studios in 2003. Each contains about 10 bonus tracks, and almost all the songs released by the Hollies from 1964 to 1966 and recorded unreleased songs are covered. ⑤ is a work released as a commemorative edition of Japan in 1968 (also digitally remastered). It includes all 7 A-side songs that had been released as singles in Japan up to this point. The harmony of Nash Clarke & Hicks 3 voices approaching the Beatles unique to this era, which recorded many cover songs, is wonderful! I opened it to take pictures and check the face of the board, but all five are almost new.
